Tara Perkins, also known as chalk girl,
is a self taught and award winning artist. Tara
took to art as soon as she was able to hold a
crayon (or piece of chalk!). Born and raised on
Vancouver Island, Tara developed an appreciation
for her majestic surroundings. Wildlife and totem
poles were common subjects of study. Years of
artistic expression made it clear that Tara's life
would be centered upon her passion for art. After
secondary school, Tara attended the University of
Victoria, earning a Bachelors of Fine Arts as well
as a Diploma of Graphic Design and Illustration.
Tara now owns Tara's Chalk of the Town and has
been creating chalk board signs for over a decade.
Clientèle includes the likes of Coke, Pepsi, Molsons,
Boston Pizza, Quality Foods, Pacific Western Brewery,
to name only a few. Tara lives in Nanaimo and is
also a full time mom and wife. Other interests include
kayaking, golf and running.
